FAQ

Who coaches the teams?

All coaches are volunteers. Please email the rec coordinator or travel coordinator if you are interested in
coaching.

What is the difference between Recreational and Travel Programs?

Soccer programs are based on birth year. MM & U8 play fun games against other Mifflin MM & U8 teams at our
home fields. Travel teams play against other teams in the Reading Berks Junior Soccer League.

When and where are practices and games?

Practices are held at Ultimate Athletic Complex 1592 Wyomissing Road, Mohnton, PA 19540.

Practices will be held twice a week. MM & U8 game are scheduled for Saturday mornings and some evenings.
Travel games are scheduled by RBJSL
and will be either Saturday or Sunday. Check out https://www.rbjsl.org/
to view the previous season schedule. Pratice nights are determined by the head coach and field availablity.

What do my registration costs cover?

Registration costs pay for operating and playing expenses, such as, Reading-Berks Junior Soccer League
registration costs, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer registration costs, US Youth Soccer dues, field costs,
referee fees, equipment costs and insurance.

What equipment do I need to purchase?

All players need shin guards, soccer cleats, and black soccer socks.

MM & U8 players need a size 3 ball.

U9, U10, U11, U12 need a size 4 ball.

U13 & U14 need a size 5 ball.

MM & U8 players will be provided with a colored team jersey.

U9-U14 will purchase a Mifflin FC travel jersey. The jersey number will be assigned by Mifflin FC.

What are Travel Evaluations?

Travel Evaluations occur at the end of the Spring season. Players are evaluated on their ball control, passing
and receiving, field awareness, and shooting skills. Scores will be used to create competitive teams for the Fall
season. Travel teams will be assigned tier levels within the RBJSL brackets and will compete against similar level
teams.

Are travel players expected to play in tournaments?

There are local tournament options throughout the year for U8 and U9-U14 teams. Coaches may sign up for
tournaments at their discretion. Fees are split amongst the participating players.

What are the expectations of parents?

Parents are expected to follow the Mifflin FC Code of Conduct by displaying appropriate behavior on the
sidelines and encouraging players with cheers and positive comments. Parents are not allowed to speak to the
referee, opposing coach, or opposing players. We ask that you support the coach’s decisions about line up, field
time, and discipline. Please communicate any questions or concerns with your coach and board members in a
constructive and appropriate manner. Most importantly, bring your player to practice and games on time.

How can I help as a parent?

Consider volunteering as a head coach or assistant coach. Clearances are required. Volunteer to bring snacks to
games. Help Mifflin FC with fundraisers to support the club!

Can my child play more than one sport?

Possibly. Practice schedules are determined by coach preference and field availability.

Travel game schedules are created by RBJSL.

Does Mifflin FC offer a scholarship for registration fees?

We have a Payment Plan with three payments during the regular registration period. We offer limited
scholarships each season.
